Vulturine Guinea Fowl
Vulturine Guinea Fowl (Acryllium Vulturinum) Provides a fabulous range of feathers for the fly dresser, made famous by Arthur Ransome in his book Mainly About Fishing. His Elver Fly is probably one of the most successful of all salmon flies. The most sought after is the Elver Hackle, a white striped feather on a black background, with a tantalizing fluorescent blue fringe. The Cobalt Blue breast feathers make superb hackling material, as do the Mantle Feathers....tiny white spots on a black background. The Purple Edged Wing Quills are required for the Taylor Range of flies designed by Peter Deane...(See Trout & Salmon...March 1987...page 65) These dressings are available on request.
